Former Spain international and Barcelona great Guillermo Amor has been appointed the new technical director of Adelaide United, the club announced Saturday. Amor, 46, who played 37 times for Spain and made over 300 appearances for Barcelona, has been in Adelaide since July observing training and providing advice to players, the Reds said.
Amor will work with the club’s Spanish head Josep Gombau and has worked extensively with youth development at Barcelona. As the FC Barcelona technical director of youth football, Amor maintained a particular style of play and the philosophy throughout the club’s ranks.
As the Reds’ new technical director, Amor’s focus will be to provide leadership, coaching,Fifa Coins, strategic, tactical and technical direction to the club while working as an assistant coach to Gombau.

"From what I have seen, it is not a big difference between us and what Barcelona are doing," Amor said. "It is something similar and something I am used to. But I have liked what I’ve seen so far. The team is playing well but they can play better."
Gombau worked with Amor at the Barcelona academy in 2003. Amor’s appointment is part of a growing Spanish influence at Adelaide United under Gombau, he joins midfielder Isaias Sanchez and forwards Pablo Sanchez and Sergio Cirio at the club.
